Coyotes bring up Plachta, place Vitale on IR

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Coyotes have recalled forward Matthias Plachta from Springfield of the AHL and placed center Joe Vitale on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Plachta, a 24-year-old from Germany, appeared in three games with Springfield this season after starting his career in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He signed an entry-level contract with the Coyotes in May.

Vitale was injured in Saturday's game against Boston after a fight with the Bruins' Kevan Miller. He went to the hospital for X-rays after the game.

Vitale was a healthy scratch the first four games before making his season debut against Boston.
