Cowboys TE Witten listed as doubtful against Giants

It looks as if the Dallas Cowboys will be without tight end Jason Witten for Wednesday night's regular-season opener against the New York Giants.

Witten, who is listed as doubtful, missed the final three preseason games because of a spleen injury. He had a scheduled checkup on Tuesday and is still expected to make the trip to New Jersey.

The seven-time Pro Bowl selection has been extremely durable during his nine- year career in Dallas, missing just one game during his rookie season in 2003 when he suffered a broken jaw.

Witten has caught 696 passes for 7,909 yards and 41 touchdowns over 143 games, all but 10 of which have been starts, with the Cowboys.

Dallas has ruled out defensive tackle Jay Ratliff due to a high ankle sprain. He had 38 tackles and two sacks in 16 games last season.

In addition, cornerback Mike Jenkins is questionable with a shoulder injury. He practiced for the first time Sunday after missing the entire offseason due to the injury.

Danny McCray, a key member of the special teams, is doubtful with a stinger/shoulder injury.
