Cody Garbrandt quickly dispatches Thomas Almeida in UFC Fight Night main event

Cody Garbrandt earned some much-deserved respect Sunday night as the unranked bantamweight starched seven-ranked opponent Thomas Almeida in the first round of their UFC Fight Night main event bout in Las Vegas.

Garbrandt landed early and often against Almeida, using an effective jab to set up a powerful left hook that hobbled the Brazilian early. Almeida tried his best to rally, but another combo Garbrandt spelled the end of Thomihas's night.

In the co-main event, ninth-ranked Jeremy Stephens spoiled Renan Barao's featherweight debut while the welterweight matchup between Jorge Masvidal and Lorenz Larkin lived up to the hype as the strikers brawled from bell to bell with Larkin walking away with the split decision.

Other big winners from the night include Paul Felder, women's bantamweight Sara McMann, Abel Trujillo and Bryan Caraway.
