Codie Bascue an easy pick for US national bobsled team

Published January 30, 2017

Codie Bascue swept the four-race U.S. men's bobsled team trials series, ensuring he was one of three drivers picked for the national team when the roster was unveiled Friday.

Former Olympic and world champion Steven Holcomb also made the team as a driver, as did Justin Olsen - a push athlete in Holcomb's sled that won Olympic gold at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

The three women's pilots to start the season are two-time Olympic medalist Elana Meyers Taylor, Jamie Greubel Poser and first-time national team driver Brittany Reinbolt. Meyers Taylor had a bye onto the team based on her performance last season.

The World Cup season starts next month in Whistler, Canada.
