Cincinnati's Munchie Legaux gets first game-winning drive to go with recognizable name

Published November 20, 2014

Munchie Legaux has a defining drive to go with that familiar name.

The junior quarterback led Cincinnati to a 27-24 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday by directing an 85-yard drive with only 1:43 to play and no timeouts. He threw for 68 yards and ran for 17 during the drive, culminating in his 39-yard touchdown pass to Damon Julian with 13 seconds left.

When Julian came down with the ball in the end zone, Legaux's teammates mobbed him and congratulated him. Legaux senses that the winning drive gained him credibility. He dreamed about leading a last-minute drive while playing in his backyard as a youth, but had never gotten to pull one off in high school or college.

The Bearcats (3-0) host Miami of Ohio (3-2) on Saturday.
