Chelsea's Cahill receives one-match ban

Published November 20, 2014

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will serve only a one-match suspension after being sent off in his team's 1-0 defeat against Corinthians in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

FIFA's disciplinary committee has decided not to add any extra matches to the ban, which Cahill will serve on Wednesday when Chelsea faces Leeds United in the quarterfinals of the League Cup.

Cahill has been ordered to pay a fine of $5,500 in addition to the ban, which comes after he kicked Corinthians forward Emerson in the 90th minute of Sunday's final.
