Central Arkansas player suspended for illegal hit

The Southland Conference has imposed a half-game suspension on Central Arkansas safety Jestin Love for an illegal hit.

Under NCAA rules, Love was suspended for targeting and initiating contact to the head or neck area of an opposing player during Central Arkansas's win against Sam Houston State last Saturday in Conway, Ark.

Love will sit out the first half of UCA's game at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.

Conferences are required to automatically review video of unnecessary roughness acts that target the head or neck to determine if additional sanctions are necessary, regardless of officials calling a penalty at the time.

Central Arkansas (3-1) is ranked 16th in The Sports Network FCS Top 25.
