Carrico to join Reading

Reading announced Monday that it has reached a deal with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon for the transfer of defender Daniel Carrico.

Carrico's contract was set to finish in June, but the Sporting captain instead joins Reading on a two-and-half-year deal with an option for a third year.

The 24-year-old has managed just two appearances with Sporting this season due to his contract situation. He is expected to join up with the squad later this week.
