National Hockey League

VANCOUVER - Mikael Samuelsson will be out of the Vancouver Canucks lineup indefinitely after undergoing successful surgery Thursday to repair his adductor tendon and sports hernia.

"After consultation with our physicians it was decided that surgery was the best course of action," Canucks president and general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement. "The best long term decision for Mikael and our hockey club was to have the surgery immediately."

Samuelsson had 18 goals and 32 assists and was a plus-8 in 75 regular season games this year.

He had a goal and two assists in the playoffs against the Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators.
