Canadiens, Petry announce 6-year pact

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Canadiens revealed on Tuesday that defenseman Jeff Petry has agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension.

Acquired from Edmonton at the trade deadline in March, Petry finished the season with seven points (3G, 4A) over 19 games. Between the Oilers and Habs, he compiled seven goals and 15 assists over 78 appearances.

Petry made his playoff debut with Montreal, totaling two goals and one assist in 12 contests.

A five-year NHL veteran and Michigan State product, the 27-year-old has accumulated 81 points (20G, 61A) but has endured a minus-68 rating over 314 appearances.
