Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wasn't about to let President Barack Obama get the last word.
While welcoming the Chicago Blackhawks to the White House for the third time in six years on Thursday, Obama lobbed a friendly shot toward the United States' neighbors to the north by saying that he'd bring the Stanley Cup to his state dinner next week.
Although Obama's jab received a fair amount of laughter, Trudeau got the last laugh with a jab of his own over Twitter.
Canada claimed the gold in all three of those Olympic years, defeating the Americans in the final in both 2002 and 2010 to boot.
Now, it should be noted that the Blackhawks have more Canadians on their roster than Americans - including Winnipeg-born Jonathan Toews, who serves as their captain. Toews, in fact, noted that Obama has yet to attend one of the team's games while he's been in office.
Trudeau could bring up those points and more when he visits the White House with his wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau on March 10.
