Caldwell signs new deal with Toronto

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that defender Steven Caldwell has signed a new contract with the club following the expiration of his loan deal.

"Steven has done a great job in anchoring our defense since arriving on loan, and he's been a terrific influence in the locker room," said Toronto FC President and General Manager Kevin Payne. "We're very pleased that he'll be with us for this and the next two seasons."

Caldwell has started six matches for TFC since joining on loan from Birmingham City on May 7. The 32-year-old amassed 90 appearances in two seasons with the Blues.
