Buffalo Bills promote CB Johnny Adams from practice squad to active roster

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

The Buffalo Bills have promoted cornerback Johnny Adams from the practice squad to the active roster.

Adams, a rookie free agent out of Michigan State, joined the Bills' practice squad on Sept. 2. He was released by the Houston Texans in late July and spent training camp with the Indianapolis Colts.

Buffalo made the move after second-year cornerback Ron Brooks had foot surgery Tuesday. He was injured in the Bills' 23-21 Week 1 loss to New England.

The Bills already were playing without top cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who has a broken wrist.

The team released defensive lineman Jay Ross on Tuesday to make room for Adams. Defensive back Brandon Smith was signed to the practice squad.
