A blast from the past is now in the mix to become the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive coordinator.

A source told FOXSports.com that John Shoop is interviewing Wednesday for the position. Shoop was Tampa Bay's quarterbacks coach in 2004 before joining the Oakland Raiders in the same role the following season. Shoop, who was the Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator from 2001-03, ran the University of North Carolina's offense the past five seasons.

As first reported by FOXSports.com on Tuesday, Ron Turner and Bill Lazor received offensive coordinator interviews by new Bucs head coach Greg Schiano. Lazor will remain offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia, according to a report by the cavalierinsider.com website.

Schiano was denied permission to interview Green Bay tight ends coach Ben McAdoo and Arizona wide receivers coach John McNulty by their respective clubs, according to multiple reports.

The Bucs have hired Jimmy Raye II as a senior offensive assistant, a source told FOXSports.com. Raye is a longtime NFL assistant whose previous coaching gig came as San Francisco's offensive coordinator. He was fired during the 2010 season.

In other NFL coaching news, a source told FOXSports.com that Jonathan Gannon was hired as Tennessee's defensive quality control coach. Gannon was a scout for the St. Louis Rams.
