Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack underwent surgery Thursday to have a fractured fibula repaired and will miss the remainder of the season.

Mack was hurt during last week's game against Pittsburgh. The Browns were unsure if he would return some time late this season, but on Friday ended any chance by placing the two-time Pro Bowl selection on injured reserve.

The surgical procedure on Thursday was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mack, who had started all 85 games he had played since the Browns selected him in the first round of the 2009 draft, is expected to make a full recovery by the start of the 2015 season.

The Browns elevated offensive lineman Ryan Seymour from the practice squad to fill Mack's roster spot and signed defensive lineman Christian Tupou to the practice squad.

Cleveland also waived/injured defensive back Isaiah Trufant, who went on IR in late August with a knee injury.
