Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Two Brown University football players are at the center of a sexual assault investigation in Rhode Island.

The Providence Journal reports the freshmen were ordered off campus in April, five months after a woman says she was sexually assaulted.

A Brown University spokeswoman says the school became aware of the case when they were informed about the criminal investigation in February.

The woman, a Providence College student, told police she believes she was drugged at a local bar in November 2013, and woke up in a Brown dorm room.

Both players remain enrolled at the school. One has filed a civil complaint accusing the woman of making false and defamatory statements.

Police say they working with the attorney general in deciding whether to bring the case to a grand jury.
