Britain revokes lifetime Olympic doping bans

Britain's Olympic committee has rescinded its rule on lifetime bans for drug offenders to fall into line with the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The British Olympic Association revoked its bylaw following a ruling last month by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that struck down the lifetime bans. WADA had previously declared Britain as "noncompliant" with the global code.

Thursday's decision came as WADA's executive committee was meeting in Montreal. WADA is now expected to declare the BOA is in compliance. The BOA said it would notify WADA immediately in writing.

CAS ruled on April 30 that Britain's Olympic bans amounted to an additional sanction.

The decision cleared the way for British sprinter Dwain Chambers and cyclist David Millar to become eligible to compete at the London Olympics.
