Brees won't get Cadillac for MVP win

A player driven to succeed won't be receiving a new car for winning Super Bowl MVP honors.

An NFL spokesman told FOXSports.com that Cadillac is no longer giving a car to the game's MVP. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees received the honor with his stellar performance in Sunday night's 31-17 victory over Indianapolis at Sun Life Stadium.

In previous years, Cadillac had championed its NFL sponsorship by allowing the Super Bowl MVP to choose one of the models from its fleet. Cadillac began taking a lower media profile at the Super Bowl in 2009 after the automotive industry received a government bailout.

Brees, who signed a six-year, $60 million contract in 2006, can afford to buy his own vehicle. He also can celebrate leading the Saints to their first Super Bowl victory. Brees upstaged Colts quarterback Peyton Manning -- the Super Bowl XLI MVP and car recipient -- by completing 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and a pair of TDs.

At least Brees still gets to go to Disneyworld. He and a few of his teammates, and we assume his infant son he was carrying on the field during the celebration, will take part in a ticker-tape parade there today at 11:55 a.m. ET.
