Breaston's surgery leaves Cardinals thin at receiver

Published November 20, 2014

PHOENIX (Reuters) - The already thin Arizona Cardinals receiving corps suffered another casualty when Steve Breaston underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair meniscus damage in his right knee, the team said.

Breaston, who had the surgery on Tuesday, is expected to miss Sunday's game at the San Diego Chargers and perhaps the following week's game at home against the New Orleans Saints.

He has 14 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in three games this season.

With wide receiver Early Doucet sidelined for several more weeks after hernia surgery, the Cardinals are likely to use two undrafted rookies and third-round pick Andre Roberts behind top receiver Larry Fitzgerald this week.
