Fred Coppet added 113 yards on 18 carries as Bowling Green (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) outgained Akron 219 to 94 on the ground.

Four of Akron's turnovers came in the second half. Taylor Royster recovered a fumble in the end zone in the third quarter to give Bowling Green a 13-3 lead. Then on Akron's ensuing possession, Nick Johnson intercepted a Kyle Pohl pass and Bowling Green put together an 11-play, 62-yard drive, ending in James Knapke's touchdown pass to Roger Lewis.
