Boston College beats Maine, 24-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (AP) Tyler Rouse rushed for 81 yards scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, allowing Boston College to pull away from Maine 24-3 in the season opener for both teams Saturday.

Darius Wade added 155 yards passing and a touchdown.

The Eagles defense dominated Maine, holding the Black Bears to just 91 yards of total offense, including seven yards rushing.

Maine led 3-0 after the first quarter on a 39-yard field goal by Sean Decloux with 11:05 left.

Boston College took the lead with 26 seconds left in the first half on an 11-yard pass from Wade to Swigert.

After a scoreless third quarter, Rouse expanded the Eagles lead with a 21-yard touchdown run with 13:51 left in the fourth.

Rouse added his second touchdown on a 45-yard gain with 11:42 left.
