The Boston Red Sox placed relief pitcher Joel Hanrahan on the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins with a right forearm strain.
This is Hanrahan's second trip to the DL in almost a month, having been out of action from April 14-29 due to a strained right hamstring. He allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings in three appearances since returning to action on April 30.
To fill the roster spot, the Red Sox recalled pitcher Allen Webster from Triple-A Pawtucket. Webster has gone 1-0 with a 2.70 earned run average in four starts this year in the minors.
