Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Lightning announced the signing of goaltender Ben Bishop to a two-year contract extension on Saturday.

Bishop saw his 2013-14 season cut short due to a torn ligament in his right wrist which eventually required surgery.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old native of Denver managed to set team single- season records for wins (37), goals-against average (2.23) and save percentage (.924) while helping the Lightning finish second in the Atlantic Division.

With Bishop on the sidelines, Tampa Bay was swept in four games by the Montreal Canadiens in the opening round of the playoffs.

A Vezina Trophy finalist for his efforts, Bishop holds a 55-31-11 record, 2.40 GAA and eight shutouts over 108 appearances for the Blues, Senators and Bolts.
