St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Blues signed veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Brodeur joined the Blues last Wednesday on a professional tryout after Brian Elliott suffered a lower-body injury during a shootout loss to Ottawa on Nov. 25 which may keep him sidelined for weeks.

"It feels great," Brodeur told stlouisblues.com. "I really appreciate the opportunity for me to be here the last few days. It definitely worked out real well. Im excited for this fresh start."

The 42-year-old Brodeur had spent his entire career with New Jersey, capturing three Stanley Cup titles and winning the Vezina Trophy four times, but Cory Schneider is now the Devils' franchise goalie.

Brodeur is the NHL's all-time leader in wins (688), shutouts (124) and games played (1,259).
