Blues make notable front office promotions

The St. Louis Blues promoted some big names within their front office on Tuesday.

Hall of Fame defenseman Al MacInnis was elevated to senior advisor to general manager Doug Armstrong, while long-time former LA Kings forward Dave Taylor was installed as vice president of hockey operations.

MacInnis, who was enshrined in 2007, played for the Blues from 1994 to the end of his career in 2003. He reached double digits in goals for eight straight seasons in St. Louis and won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman in 1999.

The 49-year-old Nova Scotia native had served the franchise as vice president of hockey operations since November of 2006.

Taylor began his tenure with the club in July of 2010 as director of player personnel. The 56-year-old Ontario native racked up 1,069 points in 1,111 games for the Kings from 1977-94.

In addition, Rob DiMaio, an 18-year NHL veteran, was named director of pro scouting. DiMaio was hired in 2008 as a scout and served in that capacity for the last four seasons.

Kevin McDonald will remain in his post as assistant general manager, which he has held since 2009. He also serves as general manager to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria.
