Blue Jays' Oliver returns from DL

The Toronto Blue Jays activated veteran relief pitcher Darren Oliver from the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's opener of a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox.

The 42-year-old Oliver had been sidelined since May 18 with a strained left shoulder. He compiled a 2-1 record with a 3.18 earned run average in 17 appearances prior to the injury.

Oliver is in his 20th major league season and second with the Blue Jays. The well-traveled lefty went 3-4 with two saves and a solid 2.06 ERA in 62 games out of the bullpen for Toronto last year.

Pitcher Thad Weber, who threw a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday's home loss to Texas, was optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo following the game to make room for Oliver on the active roster.
