Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired outfielder John Mayberry Jr. from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for minor league infielder Gustavo Pierre.

Since it's still not Sept. 1, the waiver trade means Mayberry would be eligible for the postseason if Toronto reaches the playoffs.

The 30-year-old Mayberry hit .213 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 63 games for the Phillies this season. The Kansas City, Missouri native has been on the disabled list since July 21 with left wrist inflammation. He will be activated and join the Blue Jays in Tampa Bay for a three-game series that begins Tuesday.

In six seasons with the Phillies, the right-handed hitter batted .242 in 500 games with 52 home runs and 169 RBI.

Pierre batted a combined .260 with eight homers and 43 RBI at Class A and Double-A.
