The Chicago Blackhawks added a veteran defenseman to their roster Tuesday, signing free agent Michal Rozsival to a one-year contract.

Rozsival, 34, comes to Chicago after playing last season for Phoenix, where he helped the Coyotes reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history.

During last year's regular season, Rozsival played in 54 games for the Coyotes, recording a goal and 12 assists with a +8 rating and 34 penalty minutes.

In 15 playoff games, Rozsival had 31 hits and blocked 28 shots.

Originally a fourth-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 1996 draft, Rozsival has tallied 64 goals and 196 assists in 756 career games with the Penguins, Rangers and Coyotes.
