Bills GM Buddy Nix puzzled by team's meltdowns; criticizes defense's lack of urgency

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix says there's no excuse for his defense's meltdowns, and is calling out the entire unit for playing with a lack of urgency.

Nix refused to single out any one player, while adding it's unfair to place all the blame on defensive end Mario Williams, who signed a six-year, $100 million contract in March. Nix would acknowledge that Williams needs to play better as does the entire team.

Nix spoke Tuesday on a conference call from Phoenix, where the Bills (2-3) are spending the week preparing to play Arizona. The Bills find themselves in a state of crisis after two consecutive blowouts.

Buffalo is coming off a 45-3 loss at San Francisco, which came on the heels of a 52-28 loss to New England.
