The Detroit Red Wings announced a two-year contract extension for veteran forward Todd Bertuzzi on Thursday. The new deal is worth $2.25 million per season.

The 37-year-old Bertuzzi is in the third season of his second tour of duty with the Red Wings. He played eight games late in the 2006-07 season after coming over in a trade with Florida, then returned to the Motor City in 2009-10.

This year, he has posted 12 goals, 29 points and a plus-21 rating in 54 games.

Selected by the Islanders with the 23rd overall pick of the 1993 draft, Bertuzzi has registered 301 goals and 441 assists in 1,076 NHL games with New York, Vancouver, Florida, Anaheim, Calgary and Detroit.
