Blake Beavan eyes a fifth straight win on Tuesday when the Seattle Mariners continue a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

Beavan beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, surrendering three runs and seven hits in 7 2/3 innings to run his record to 7-6, while lowering his ERA to 5.06.

The 23-year-old has lasted into the seventh inning in three consecutive starts, and is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA over that stretch. He's won all four of his starts since getting called up from Triple-A Tacoma following a stint in the minors.

Beavan, who has never faced the Orioles, will be trying to help the Mariners bounce back from a loss in Monday's opener after Chris Tillman outdueled Jason Vargas to propel Baltimore to a 3-1 win.

Tillman (5-1), a former Seattle farmhand, held the Mariners to one run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings to pick up his fourth straight win. Tillman has only pitched deeper into a game once, when he tossed 8 1/3 innings against the M's on July 4.

"Fastball command was a little bit better tonight," said Tillman. "My changeup and curveball kind of carried me through the game."

Vargas (12-8), the American League's Pitcher of the Month in July, had a strong August debut, tossing his second complete game of the season and seventh of his career. He surrendered three runs on eight hits in eight innings, without issuing a walk.

Nick Markakis provided the decisive blow for the Orioles with a two-out, two- run home run in the second inning, giving the Orioles their sixth win in eight games.

The 23-year-old has lasted into the seventh inning in three consecutive starts, and is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA over that stretch.

Heading to the hill for the O's tonight will be lefty Zach Britton, who is 1-1 with an 8.35 ERA. Britton was hammered in a loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday, as he allowed seven runs and seven hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Britton did not get a decision in his only other start against the M's.

The Orioles took two of three games from the Mariners at Safeco Field back in July and are 7-3 against Seattle since the start of the 2011 campaign.

Baltimore swept a three-game set from the M's at Camden Yards last season.
