Lake Forest, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman will miss the rest of the season after being placed on injured reserve with a ruptured right triceps on Monday.

Tillman, who decided to stay with the Bears on one-year deal in the offseason, suffered the injury in the third quarter of Chicago's 28-20 win over San Francisco on Sunday.

The 33-year-old compiled eight tackles in two starts this season, his 12th with the Bears. He recorded 41 tackles, three interceptions and six passes defensed in eight games last season. He ended the 2013 campaign in similar fashion with a torn triceps.

"I know this feeling way too well, but this isn't the end of the road for me," Tillman said in a statement. "As I rehab my injury, my role will transition to helping coach and support my teammates."

A two-time Pro Bowler, Tillman is third in team history with 36 interceptions and is the franchise leader in defensive return touchdowns (nine), interception return touchdowns (eight) and interception return yards (675).

Originally selected by the Bears in the second round of the 2003 draft, Tillman has 957 tackles, 42 forced fumbles and three sacks in 156 career games.
