Bayne still in hospital, Buescher to race Richmond

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Chris Buescher is making his first career NASCAR start in place of Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, who remains hospitalized for symptoms believed to be related to an insect bite.

Roush Fenway Racing says Buescher will drive in the Nationwide Series race Friday night at Richmond International Raceway.

Bayne had an apparent reaction earlier this month to an insect bite on his left elbow. He was briefly hospitalized following the April 9 race at Texas Motor Speedway for treatment because he'd experienced numbness in his arm while driving.

Team officials said Bayne was not feeling well this week, and they sent the 20-year-old driver for evaluation.
