Barrada lifts Getafe past Villarreal

Abdelaziz Barrada scored in the 72nd 1 win at Villarreal, which could be crucial in the club's bid to avoid relegation.

Getafe entered the match carrying a five-game winless streak but took the lead after six minutes when Diego Castro finished off a pass from Miku to stun the home side.

Villarreal had a chance to equalize in the 18th minute when Jaume Costa was fouled inside the penalty area by Getafe's Michel. However, Borja Valero failed to convert the spot kick, hitting his effort straight at goalkeeper Miguel Moya.

Nilmar converted a penalty kick just before halftime to level the contest for the Yellow Submarine, but the difference came in the final 20 minutes when Pedro Leon's pass was picked up by Barrada and dispatched beyond goalkeeper Diego Lopez.

Getafe moves eight points clear of the drop zone with the win, leaving Villarreal just three points above the relegation places.
