Austria's Bernd Wiesberger fired a 6-under 66 in Friday's second round of the Malaysian Open to take the clubhouse lead.

Wiesberger picked up four shots on the inward nine to move to 8-under 136 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

The two-time winner on the European Tour was one stroke ahead of Englishman Paul Waring and Ireland's Peter Lawrie.

Waring followed up his first career hole-in-one on Thursday with a second round 68 while Lawrie shot a 66.

First round leaders and tournament favorites Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell had afternoon tee-offs and began only one and two shots off the pace respectively.

Among early finishers, Spain's Alvaro Quiros carded a second-straight 70 to move to 4-under, while Australian Marcus Fraser shot a 69 to reach 3-under.
