Australia's Hannah Green to turn pro

Published October 05, 2016

Associated Press

Australian teenage golfer Hannah Green will play at the LPGA Tour's qualifying school later this month after making the decision to turn professional.

The 19-year-old from Perth finished second to top-ranked Lydia Ko at the New Zealand Open last year, had a top-20 finish at the Australian Open in February and was the best-placed local player at the Australian Ladies Masters.

Green said "doing well in those events showed me I was closer to making the transition than I'd previously thought, so it's time. I need to go and compete at that level and test myself against the world's best players more regularly."

Green said she would be "nervous but not intimidated" by the prospect of playing regularly against the world's top players.
