Astros sign first-round pick Springer

The Houston Astros signed first-round draft choice George Springer Monday night.
The 21-year-old outfielder was an NCAA Division I First-Team All-American in 2011. He hit .343 with 12 home runs, 31 stolen bases and 77 RBI in 66 games as a junior this season at the University of Connecticut.
Springer was chosen 11th overall in June's draft.
