As Miami seeks Final Four shot, Larranaga taking Hurricanes back to his familiar DC territory

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Miami coach Jim Larranaga is going home for the weekend.

At least, that's how it seems. He's still revered in the greater Washington area, with plenty of friends who backed him during his tenure at George Mason still around, relishing the scene of him cutting down nets in the Verizon Center to celebrate a trip to the Final Four.

He's heading back to that same arena this weekend, and this time, it'll be his Hurricanes trying to get to the national semifinals.

Whether he's taking charges or diving for loose balls in the locker room, or pumping up his team by mimicking Muhammad Ali in a video that has gone big-time viral, Larranaga has made all the right moves with Miami this season.
