Leave it to Ron Artest to go for a strange ride.

The Lakers forward was pulled over Monday while driving an IndyCar-inspired open-cockpit car through the streets of Los Angeles, according to TMZ.

The car is an Eagle Roadster, a street-legal Indy-style kit car with a 235-horsepower engine. It has a top speed of 152 mph, but Artest was reportedly cited for an expired registration, not for speeding. Artest is not the registered owner, according to TMZ.

Artest was smiling throughout the incident and was eventually sent on his way by the LAPD officer, according to TMZ.

And don't worry, Lakers fans, he was wearing a helmet. After all, he's not crazy, right?
