AP Source: Bills decline to match Hogan's deal with Patriots

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) A person with direct knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that the Buffalo Bills won't stand in the way of receiver Chris Hogan joining AFC East rival New England.

The person says Friday night that the Bills are relinquishing their rights to Hogan by determining not to match the Patriots' three-year, $12 million offer sheet he signed earlier in the day. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Bills have not announced their decision.

Hogan was a restricted free agent whose rights were retained by Buffalo on Monday. The move meant the Bills would have five days to match any offer Hogan accepted from another team.

Buffalo, however, is handcuffed to match any deal because it has little room left under the salary cap.
