Another Drew heading to Boston

The Boston Red Sox made it official on Wednesday, signing shortstop Stephen Drew to a one-year contract.

No financial terms of the deal were disclosed, but according to a CBS Sports report on Dec. 17, it is worth $9.5 million.

Drew, the younger brother of former Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew, split last season with Arizona and Oakland. He batted a combined .223 in 79 games with seven homers and 28 runs batted in. The Athletics acquired Drew in August and he helped the club to a surprise AL West title.

The 29-year-old Drew broke into the majors with the Diamondbacks in 2006 and has a career average of .265 with 77 homers and 349 RBI.

With the signing, the Drews became the 11th set of brothers to suit up for the Red Sox and the first since Pedro and Ramon Martinez.
