Jim Harbaugh and Michigan may have been in the news for pulling scholarships recently, but the fact is the act is quite common in college football recruiting in 2016. Alabama is just the latest example, as linebacker commit Riley Cole decommitted from the Crimson Tide Sunday.

According to Cole, Alabama offered the in-state linebacker a greyshirt offer, which would delay his scholarship offer until an undetermined time. Instead of accepting the offer, Cole decommitted seven months after originally committing to the Tide.

The move would seem to indicate the Crimson Tide are trending well with nationally elite linebacker prospects Mack Wilson, Ben Davis and Mique Juarez, all of whom are have the Alabama among their finalists. However, if none of the players commit to Alabama, the 2015 class could be seriously lacking depth at the linebacker position.

As for Cole's future, with so many college coaches immediately jumping to follow him on Twitter, he should easily find himself an ideal landing spot with National Signing Day just over 48 hours away.
