After crazy opening weeks, Southern Cal gets a break with visit to Boston College

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

One week after a late win over Pac-12 rival Stanford, No. 9 Southern Cal is leaving the state for the first time. With the trip to Chestnut Hill to play Boston College, USC has a chance to escape the tumult that has surrounded the school this season.

A once-proud program that claims 11 national championships, USC has made more of an impact off the field the last few seasons. Before coach Steve Sarkisian's first game, cornerback Josh Shaw admitted to lying about how he was injured. And last week athletic director Pat Haden was fined for going down to the field to argue with the officials.

BC isn't optimistic that all of the tumult will cause problems for the Trojans on Saturday night.

BC coach Steve Addazio says USC looks hungry and confident.
