A-Rod to DH in 2nd minor-league game in Florida

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez is listed to be the designated hitter in his second minor league rehabilitation game.

The original plan was for Rodriguez to play five or six innings at third base for Class-A Tampa against Dunedin on Saturday. The posted lineup for the Florida State League contest has him in the DH role only and batting third.

Rodriguez went 2 for 3 as the DH in his first game Friday night, including a long home run in the first and a third-inning double, in which he ran tentatively from the plate to second.

Rodriguez had right knee surgery on July 14. After the game Friday, he said the knee was healthy.

New York manager Joe Girardi, before Saturday's game against Tampa Bay, said Rodriguez will do situational work Sunday at the Yankees' minor league complex.
