7-year-old cancer survivor gets Chicago Cubs logo on prosthetic eye

Cancer survivor Beckham Zobrist gets to see the world with Chicago Cubs eyes.

In 2012, young Zobrist was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare form of cancer, and the only way doctors were able to remove it and keep it from spreading to his brain was to remove his right eye, according to WGN TV.

But after getting taunted by his T-ball teammates and being called a "freak," Beckham asked his parents for a new eye for Christmas. When that couldn't be granted, Beckham's parents gave the baseball lover his next request: A prosthetic eye custom made with a Chicago Cubs logo.

And recently, the 7-year-old visited Wrigley Field with his whole new outlook, and met with Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo -- himself a fellow cancer survivor. Beckham and his family also received a personal tour from Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez.

"He's my idol. I look up to him," Martinez said.

The new prosthetic eye has not only helped Beckham develop a whole new outlook, he also now can always root for his favorite team.

"Today, we're so thankful," Beckham's mother Erin Zobrist told WGN. "And he's doing great. He's at a Cub game."
