2012 MVP Adrian Peterson launches allergy education program

Adrian Peterson has helped launch an educational program for people with severe allergies, something that affected the Minnesota Vikings' running back before his MVP season.

Peterson had a strong allergic reaction to shellfish in training camp two years ago, even though he'd been eating it for 27 years. The reaction, called anaphylaxis, caused facial swelling and breathing problems. His trainer, however, was familiar with such symptoms and had the equipment to deal with them.

Now, Peterson is encouraging everyone to take steps in dealing with severe allergies. He has teamed with the pharmaceutical company Mylar Specialty on the project.

As part of the campaign, three youngsters who have such health issues can win a trip to Minnesota's training camp this summer.
