Los Angeles Angels pitcher Huston Street is taking a new approach with his five-bedroom home in Austin, TX: Renting it out for $10,500 a month. (The home went unsold after 150 days on the market. But, if you still want to buy it, it'll cost you $2.95 million.)
The Austin-born closer played for the Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, and San Diego Padres before settling with the Angels in 2014. He recorded his 300th career save, against the Minnesota Twins, earlier this year -- becoming only the 27th pitcher to reach that milestone.
He's also made a few moves in the Austin real estate market, which we detailed earlier this year. The reliever listed a different home in the capital city in January, but it was pulled from the market without a sale and property records still show him as the owner.
Despite its steep cost, this 5,401-square-foot Craftsman-style home will be a sweet score for a renter. It has stone and dark wood galore, giving the two-story home a neo-Gothic feel. The cavernous arches and lofted, beamed ceilings only add to the effect.
The home's large bedrooms offer plenty of space for a growing family (Street has three sons), but it's the backyard that really shines. It features a huge covered patio with a built-in grill, and there's plenty of landscaped, grassy fields for the kids to play.
