Donald Trump and Ben Carson are the top picks for Iowa Republican caucus-goers, while Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has slid all the way to 10th place, in a new Iowa poll out Friday.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows Trump, the billionaire businessman and GOP front-runner, at 27 percent. Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who lately has been surging in Iowa polls, has climbed to 21 percent.
But Walker, who led many Iowa polls over the spring and summer, has slid from 18 percent in a July survey to 3 percent in the latest Quinnipiac polling.
"With five months until the balloting, anything can happen. But the field has become a two-tiered contest -- Donald Trump and Ben Carson ahead and everyone else far behind," Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.
Walker has seen his numbers steadily fall in Iowa over the past month. But the latest poll also shows a mixed picture for Trump.
Despite his clear lead in the state, Trump also tops the list of candidates whom caucus-goers say they "definitely" would not support, with 25 percent putting Trump on their "no way" list.
The poll of 1,038 likely Iowa GOP caucus-goers was taken Aug. 27-Sept. 8. It had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
