McConnell: Senate has been 'restored' to 'high purpose'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell celebrated the closing of his first year running the Senate Saturday, saying the chamber has returned to "high purpose."

"I'm proud of what the new Republican majority has accomplished," McConnell said in the weekly Republican address to the nation Saturday.

Republican candidates like front-runner Donald Trump, not to mention Democrats, have consistently faulted the new majority.

"You look at what's going on with our budget process, it's a disaster," Trump said Friday of this week's budget deal. "It's a joke."
