Jeb Bush, the former Republican Florida governor and possible 2016 presidential contender, will be making his first campaign appearance of the year -- with incumbent Gov. Rick Scott on Friday.
Scott spokeswoman Jackie Schutz said that Bush and Scott will visit a local business in the predominately agricultural area of Homestead, Fla., on Friday morning. The campaign says more details will be forthcoming.
Scott is locked in a tough race with his likely general election opponent -- another former Florida Republican governor, and now Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Charlie Crist. A recent Quinnipiac poll showed a statistical dead heat between Scott and Crist, with Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie peeling off about 9 percent.
Primary elections for both parties will be held on Aug. 26, with both Scott and Crist expected to easily win their respective gubernatorial party nominations. Since the spring, upwards of $20 million has been infused (mostly by Scott on TV ads) into the heated campaign.
